It is important for all to know that no one at Downtown Dog Rescue or Friends for Animals receives a salary. We are all volunteers. When you make a donation to us, 100% goes to the animals.

Downtown Dog Rescue is an all volunteer based organization. We rely 100% on donations and grants. The work that we do is not possible without your donations. The majority of the dogs we rescue are in need of all kinds of things in the way of medical treatment. We also deal with Pit Bulls and other breeds that do not even stand a chance if they end up in the shelter system. Most all of them, no matter what breed, have been abused, neglected, abandoned or left to wander the streets of downtown Los Angeles. Many of the dogs are old and are just not wanted any longer.

With your donations we are able to provide whatever is necessary to rehabilitate these guys and give them a chance to find the home they never had. We don't put a time limit on the adoption process. However long it takes, we stick with it. We make a commitment to these animals to help them get a SECOND CHANCE and it works. We have placed hundreds of dogs in wonderful homes...dogs that would never have stood a chance if they were not rescued. We help many homeless people with their dogs by spay/neutering, providing medical treatment, food and we do regular checkups to see how the dogs are doing. We also take dogs when a homeless person can no longer care for their dog. A lot of homeless people find puppies and dogs that are wandering the streets and they bring them to us.
